Communication - The Bridge For a Longer Relationship
Once a nice poem states that "a picture paints a thousands words" and that is indeed true. Many things are spoken even in the absence of words. However, sometimes it doesn't necessarily apply. Sometimes, what we need is real words so that we can be understood by the people around us. To communicate is both a science and an art yet it is not very difficult to learn. By communicating well, it is as good as saying that you are capable to tell your feelings to anyone. In addition, anyone who is able to use his body language and his words will be successful in what he really thinks and feels.

Balance - A Dying Art
Balance is the essence to a great relationship; in fact, it is the essence to life. We are not really educated to be balanced in our approach to life, or the goals we wish to achieve. We seem to push everything to extremes. I would like to promote the virtues of balance against those extremes. If we could be a little more balanced in our approach to everyday events, then we would all find it easier to reach our goals and we might enjoy the journey far more. I can apply this to many things; sports, food, money, religion & love. If we look at sports, if we look at a professional athlete and his regime, his life, his achievements and his downfall, everything is pushed to extremes, which are ultimately detrimental to his life and his health - the two things he was trying to promote.

Connecting With Others by Using Their Names
What's the quickest way to build rapport with someone? Use their name when speaking to them. As simple as it may sound, it's a task that often gets undermined by forgetfulness. Why people forget names is the subject of much discussion, why they have difficulty remembering them is another. The truth is that most people are preoccupied with their own thoughts, judgments, insecurities, self-perceptions, and self-interests to free up the mental space that's necessary to have a name stick. Add to that the concern with remembering a person's name, and it's almost certain to be forgotten.

Use of the Word 'Inappropriate'
Oh, that word "inappropriate." It is a word, similar to words like "bad" and "wrong", that indicates the person using them has a less than flexible awareness of the complexity and subjectivity of reality. People use it as an emotional club. As a method of controlling other people, when they are unable to understand them. Rather than trying to understand another person, they tell the other person, "You're inappropriate." No listening, no understanding, just a shutting down of communication. Many people use it when they feel afraid of another person's emotions.

What Women Hate About Men
Fights between couples often finish unresolved, with the fight intensifying when next the subject comes up. The argument is usually followed by several hours or days of silence before inevitably making up. What are the contributing factors that annoy women about their man? Arguments often start with (usually) the girl giving him the silent treatment and the guy having no clue why she is upset. After a while she will finally let him have the facts about being annoyed that he had lunch with the new girl at work, or is still consoling his ex about her personal problems - sound familiar?

Do Ultimatums Work?
-You want him to stop bumming off his relatives and get a job or else... -You want her to spend more time with you and less time with her friends or else... Have you ever been in a relationship where you gave someone (or got) an ultimatum? Did it work or did you (or he or she) bail? Do you think it's ever appropriate to issue an ultimatum? In layman's terms, that translates to: "It's my way or the highway.
