Eleventh Wedding Anniversary - Celebrate Eleven Years Together
The eleventh wedding anniversary is symbolized by steel. There are enough possibilities this year for anniversary presents that it's hard to know where to start. And the celebration itself of eleven years of marriage is filled with possibilities as well. If your eleventh anniversary is pending, check out the following seven ideas for how to make it the most memorable day yet.
1 Steel is a natural magnet, of course. Since you two were obviously attracted to each other pretty strongly eleven plus years ago, why not a gift for each of you that takes advantage of the magnetic quality of your relationship? Go to one of several websites dedicated to unusual gifts, sites such as Zazzle, Etsy, or Cafe' Press, and have a magnet made of your favorite picture, vacation scene or maybe of your family. It may not seem like much, but he or she will appreciate your resourcefulness, and the 'attractive' concept behind it. In these challenging economic times, the inexpensive gift may be appreciated even more.
2 Steel is also a terrifically durable substance too, of course. Just like your marriage. Why not have the same crafter make a steel figure of the two of you, a stylized couple in shiny, attractive stainless steel for your mantel or dresser? Many of the artisans on-line will work from a photo, or any rendition you present to them. The resulting statue could have the date of your wedding engraved on it. It will, of course, last forever.
3 Steel is the metal of choice for cookware. Not romantic enough? Here's romantic: Get him or her a new set of quality steel cookware for your eleventh anniversary, and then make it a point to join them in the kitchen to put it to use. This could be the start of a new tradition, new diet, or new initiative to strengthen your marriage. Couples who cook together show that they can share a lot of heat together, and not just in the kitchen, either.
4 After eleven years together you know something about compromise, and you know even more about contrasts between each other. So why not take the steel idea, and contrast it with the can't miss, age-old anniversary gift of flowers? Find an attractive steel vase, perhaps one with your wedding date engraved on it (see #1 above), and fill it with his or her favorite roses, mums, zinnias, lilies, you name it. Sure, you could go with the same old ceramic vase you used last year on number ten, but imagine the contrast between stainless steel and blood red roses.
5 Eleven love notes stashed all over the house. Inexpensive, thoughtful, fun, unexpected and much appreciated. Try it as a kind of scavenger hunt. The prize is up to you.
6 Speaking of trying economic times, we've all had to tighten our belts a wee bit. So how about the re-creation of your first date? You probably went to dinner and a movie, or a ball game and a walk in the park, or on a double date with friends. Take eleven bucks apiece, pick a movie, and go on a date. Six bucks apiece for the film, five for popcorn and a drink, and it's an anniversary you'll remember, just like your first date. You can even double.
7 If you're still dazzled, (and maybe broke) after your tenth anniversary, and not able to get away too far anyway because of kids, jobs, commitments, the old-fashioned dinner at home with a meal you've prepared together--on your new cookware--is still the best way to mark a date which means a lot to you.
Eleven years together is a pretty good sign that you're going to stick it out, regardless of what some of them said years ago. Keep in mind that next year's anniversary is marked with linen and silk. There may be table items and bedding in your future. Happy Anniversary.
